Update: 2.2 release is now in production
Check out the WP 2.2 Beta release (Blog catalog version will be available shortly)…Lots of goodies here:
1. Support for templates for comments (See this blog for an example of how they look). With the comment templates users can have good looking threaded comments while keeping the comments in their own DB. We are supporting 4 different look and feel for the comment templates. All of them support threading and have robust SezWho integration. Although we would love to have you use these templates with SezWho :-), but if for some reason, you want to use them independently of SezWho that should be possible as well. (The templates as is the case with plug-in are available under GPL and we will provide the documentation on how to use them independently shortly.)
2. Support for Thumbs up/down as ratings. Going forward thumbs up/down are going to the default settings.
3. Support for local CSS/JS
4. Support for configurable popups (popup on hover or not)
5. Support for WP-MU and multiple installs in same WP DB
6. Easy upgrade. Just update you SezSho folder with the latest code and configure the new options from the plugins -> SezWho configuration page.
7. Improved support for filtering.
Try it out and let us know?

Another great update guys!
I found one bug .. maybe just my theme though …
When using your Threaded comment and I click reply to individual comment - attempt to cancel that reply doesn’t work.
You can test it on my blog.

One more thing - LOVE the local CSS and java options! My page load speed dropped by about 0.4 sec. average

One suggestion:
Since the new version replaces our Comments tamplate provided by theme - would be nice if we had an option to provide a “Comments Guidelines” above the comment form as a configurable option that is inserted into the template.
As it stand now - I will have to go into your code and hack it to ensure that I will include the Guidelines. I know it might not be an issue for most - but would be nice as an option - even if limited in number of words.

Alex, good point…
we will make sure the comments template includes the standard WP comment form hook, and also add a hook at the top so people can insert things via plugin.
This should make this fully configurable without touching the code.

Here is what I found, anyone can rate a commment 20 times or even 200 times if they feel like it, apparently there is no cookie that controls how many times one persorn rates the post, I have rated my own comment (anonymously) 5 times, this is not too good.
I am disabling the rating from my site it does not look too reliable. Sorry about that.

Frank,
The anonymous ratings are limited to the kind of influence they can have.
Anon ratings can only move the overall score by 10% (try it out). Non-anon ratings on the other hand have a lot higher influence.
this model makes for better participation and more reliable ratings.
Thanks, Jitendra

Thank for replying Jitendra, well you can see here that it says 20 people have rated my reply above, do you believe it? It’s taken me 20 clicks to do that.
But you are correct that the ammount of influence is limited I only managed to get a 4.20 and it doesnt go further up, still better than your 3.5 (at the moment of writting this)

Yeah,
The idea is to encourage as many votes as possible while maintaining the integrity of the score.
Also the score starts with your default reputation score (in my case its 3.5 rating) and it goes up or down based on the reputation of rater. If the rater is anon than the effect on the score is limited.
Now if I was to rate it with my credentials, the score would move a lot more.
Thanks, Jitendra

Hmm.. it seems the threaded comments portion is not compatible with the Comment Email Responder plugin. That is a bummer, because I’d rather use your threaded comments than the yatcp that I use… mainly because yatcp makes me edit the templates, and I always forget to reedit them when I change themes.
Anyway… I’ll be keeping the yatcp for now, and hope that your threaded comments will work with the Comment Email Responder plugin soon. I cannot do without the Comment Email Responder plugin!

Cynthia,
Which comment email responder plugin do you use?
We use one on this blog and it works fine. Let me know and we will sort it out.

Beta 2.2 doesn’t seem to work if you “Edit Presentation” in the SezWho account (I am running the WordPress plugin).

Doug,
We tried replicating the issue, but ‘Edit Presentation’ worked fine for us. Try editing it again. And if you face any problem, please write to us at support@sezwho.com better support.
